Clean your glasses without breaking them

Window Glass Cleaning

Beautiful glassware is an excellent accessory for any party, but cleaning it afterward can be a hassle.

Professionals will recommend polishing wine glasses with a cloth for a crystal-clear effect, but in real life, you just want them dry and stainless.

The trick? Don't even bother hand drying your glasses. After washing them with hot water, place the glasses upside down on a cooling rack or oven rack. If you don't have either, simply place the glasses upside down on two chopsticks. Once they're dry, polish up the edge of the glasses, and you are done.

Keep your windows clean

Window Cleaning Services
Want a better view of the outside world from your home? Then wipe off that grime from your window!

Yes, a window provides a view to the world but a dirty window is sure to offer you a hazy picture. So, let's learn how to get spotless and clear windows by cleaning it in the right way.

Things you need

Make sure that you have all the necessary things before you begin. Things like liquid soap, soft rags, rubbing alcohol, clean water, toothbrush or several cotton swabs, hose, scrub brushes, laundry detergent, bleach, ammonia or white vinegar, bucket, sponges, and black and white newspapers or cloth diapers.

Window sills

Wash the window sills thoroughly with warm soapy water (made with four cups of water and two to four sprays of liquid soap). Use a soft rag to clean the area. Rinse thoroughly with clean water. If you notice that any area is still dirty, use a mixture of alcohol and water. If you find that the inside corners are still dirty, you should use a toothbrush or several cotton swabs to clean any dirty corners.

Window screens

To clean your screens, rinse them with clean water and a hose. For really stubborn areas, you should use a scrub brush to get them clean.

Window frames

To clean window frames, you should use liquid soap and water and rub the area thoroughly. Then, rinse it out to have really clean window frames. If you have mildew on your frames, you can clean it with 1/2 cup of laundry detergent, 1/3 cup of household bleach and 2 cups of water.

Window panes

Wash the outside of the window panes from right to left and bottom to top so you'll immediately know if any areas are streaked. By doing this, the streaks will be visible, which can be washed off as needed.

Ways to clean windows

To clean your windows, use black and white newspapers or a cloth instead of paper towels. For regular cleaning, use one gallon water plus 1/4 cup white vinegar. For a heavy-duty cleaning, use one gallon water and 1/2 cup ammonia and 2 cups of alcohol. Please remember that you should never mix ammonia and bleach together as it will generate toxic fumes. If you prefer to use a cleaning solution, make sure that you follow the directions.

Simple cleaning techniques that never go wrong

Want to be a domestic goddess but having trouble getting that elusive crown? Not every woman is blessed with the natural gift of having amazing housekeeping skills.

But that doesn't mean you can't learn. Start by learning basic things, cleaners, detergents, powders, etc. And make sure you don't make these mistakes:

- If you have wooden flooring in any part of the house, make sure that you don't ever clean it with water. Mopping a wooden floor with water will be its death knell , it will damage the wooden flooring in no time. Use a slightly damp cloth to clean it instead. The idea is to minimize the use of water as much as you can. The same goes for laminated floors as well.

- While polishing your wooden furniture, don't go overboard with the polish. While it might make the furniture look shiny and new, it can also make smears look more noticeable, which is the last thing you want. Instead, just use a clean cloth every other day to keep your furniture clean and use the polish sparingly for special occasions.

- Whether you're the most careful person in your family or not, everyone spills things. Even the smallest and most innocuous things can cause ghastly stains on your lovely upholstery, carpets or clothes. Instead of reaching out for some water and scrubbing the stain with your fingers, use a tissue paper or a dry towel to blot out the stain. Keep the stained item in a bucket of water and detergent and try the blotting technique again.

- Thanks to the omnipresent dust and pollution in Delhi, windows get dirty very quickly. But the trick is to clean your windows after the sun has set or before the sun rays hit your windows. This is because the harsh rays of the sun can cause the cleaning liquid to make streaks across the glass , just the thing you don't want.
